Maniema: Civil Society Organization Welcomes the Appointment of Aruna Sefu Josué
The Initiative of Indigenous Pygmy Women for Peace and Endogenous Development (IFAPPDE) has expressed its satisfaction following the appointment of Aruna Sefu Josué as roving ambassador in charge of investments and partnerships for the Provincial Government of Maniema.
In an official letter signed by its Country Executive Director, Esther Baraka, the organization described the appointment formalized by a provincial decree dated February 20, 2026 as a strong signal toward strengthening cooperation and resource mobilization for the province.
Committed to promoting peace, protecting the environment, advancing endogenous development, and defending the rights of Indigenous Pygmy communities, IFAPPDE believes this new role presents an opportunity to boost investment in Maniema’s strategic priorities, particularly in environmental, climate, agricultural, and humanitarian sectors.
The organization expressed confidence that the ambassador’s leadership will help attract technical and financial partners while reinforcing sustainable development initiatives for the benefit of local communities.
Reaffirming its willingness to collaborate with provincial authorities, IFAPPDE called for coordinated efforts to promote inclusive and sustainable development across Maniema.
