South – Kivu : Dr Denis MUKWEGE is still waiting for security promised by head of state Félix TSHISEKEDI.

The man who repairs women and the only one Congolese Nobel Prize winner says he is still waiting for the materialization of the promise of the head of state to his person; that of securing it by congolese loyalist forces.

During an exchange with the press at the panzi hospital on June 23, 2021, Dr Denis MUKWEGE expressed his concerns about being secured by UN forces instead of the Congolese.

 » The DRC is first and foremost my country. I do not have two and those who threaten me; will do so here without me leaving this country because I will not leave this country again. Today; our security is ensured by Monusco which is not a pride but we had promises and we are waiting for these promises to be fulfilled so that we can be secured by our national forces.« ‘ said Dr Denis MUKWEGE.

During the 45th meeting of the Council of Ministers on 21 August 2020, the Head of State Felix TSHISEKEDI instructed the government to ensure his safety and to open an investigation into the death threats against Dr Denis MUKWEGE who « repairs » women.

According to President Félix Tshisekedi, intimidation, hateful correspondence, and death threats are the daily lot of the « repairer » of abused women.

For President Félix Tshisekedi, MUKWEGE’s action is a call to raise awareness of the violence in the east of the country. During the government meeting, the Minister of the Interior and his colleague from Justice were instructed that day to ensure the security of the Nobel Peace Prize winner. An investigation should also be opened into this.
