Bukavu: Environmental Civil Society Strengthens Member Structures with KOBO Toolbox and GALS Training
The Environmental Civil Society of South Kivu has launched a series of capacity-building workshops for its member structures. The first session, held on June 17, focused on the updated digital survey tool KOBO Toolbox, aimed at improving data collection practices in the field.
Led by Jordan Muderwa Muhuhu, the training brought together 10 member organizations. The main goal was to equip participants with the necessary skills to collect accurate, up-to-date, and fraud-free data.
“This is a key step toward professionalizing our fieldwork,” said JORDAN TU HUHU the day’s facilitator.
On June 18, the second day of training introduced the GALS (Gender Action Learning System) approach a participatory method that helps communities visualize life projects by understanding the economic challenges they face.
“GALS helps us reflect on economic obstacles while building a clear and time-bound vision for the future,” explained Janvier Barhahiga, the day’s facilitator.
These sessions aim to upgrade the technical capacity of environmental civil society actors, preparing them to meet the demands and seize the opportunities emerging in the humanitarian and environmental sectors.
